Through photographing older adults in the midst of actively living out their passions, we have the opportunity to share a new and different perspective on aging: This stage of life is not necessarily about looking back at one’s life as something that’s passed, but instead as an exciting time filled with vitality and wellness, where each day has purpose and meaning.

Gorgeous Photo Series Redefines Visual Culture of Aging

Denver, CO, July 22, 2016 –(PR.com)– Photographer Heidi Wagner Showcases the Beauty of Aging with Passion and Purpose

Known for her aesthetically beautiful and memorable photos, Denver based photographer Heidi Wagner is turning her lens toward people across the U.S. who are aging, as Wagner says, “With passion and purpose.” This striking black and white portrait series, “The Passions Project,” transcends visual concepts of what aging in America looks like, and Wagner’s mission goes beyond creating captivating images: She seeks to completely redefine our ideas about what it means to get older.

The Passions Project evolved through Wagner’s work in a community of elders in Boulder, Colorado wherein the photographer came to realize that many of the people she was getting to know led active lives in which their various passions and interests play a central role — activities that bring joy, but perhaps go unnoticed by those in the community at large. Wagner explains: “Through photographing older adults in the midst of actively living out their passions, we have the opportunity to share a new and different perspective on aging: This stage of life is not necessarily about looking back at one’s life as something that's passed, but instead as an exciting time filled with vitality and wellness, where each day has purpose and meaning.”

To date, The Passions Project has been commissioned and displayed in Colorado, Iowa, Texas, and Washington, D.C., with the latest commission for 20 portraits taking place from April 25 – 29th, for Christian Care Senior Living Communities in Mesquite, Texas.
